Former WWE superstar Taz dropped by CBS Sports Radio on Friday to preview the 30th annual Royal Rumble, which is this Sunday in San Antonio. Twenty-two of the 30 competitors have been announced for the Rumble, thus leaving eight mystery competitors.
Taz believes that one of the unknown participants will win.
“I think it’s going to be a young man by the name of Finn Balor,” Taz said on Tiki and Tierney. “Finn was the first ever Universal Champion when they created that title earlier in the year and then he had to relinquish it the next day on Raw due to injury. He got hurt and blew out his shoulder pretty bad. But he’s rehabbed and I believe he’s good to go. They haven’t officially said it – I think he’s going to be a surprise entry – but I think Finn Balor is the guy who wins.”
Balor, 35, is from Ireland.
He’s a young man who’s got a lot of experience and is a tremendous competitor,” said Taz, who also hosts The Taz Show. “So he’s my pick to win. I think he’s going to be the surprise entry. I think he’s going to win it. I do not think Undertaker will win. I do not think Goldberg will win. I do not think Brock Lesnar will win. It’s a star-studded Royal Rumble for sure. They got so much talent in this thing.”
Other participants include The Miz, Chris Jericho, Randy Orton and Big Show.
While Taz expects big things from Balor, he also believes that Baron Corbin will be in the mix toward the end.
“He’s a big cat – probably about 6-5, 6-6 – and he’s kind of like a throwback because of his size,” Taz said. “(He’s) a muscular guy but very quick, very agile, fleet-footed guy, super athletic, golden gloves guy, (good) hands, great look. I think he’s a guy that they love, and he’s a guy they’re going to push toward the end of that thing in the final four or final three. But I think Finn Balor is the guy who wins.”
The event kicks off at the Alamodome at 6:30 p.m. ET.
