CBS Sports NFL insider Jason La Canfora stopped by Tiki And Tierney on CBS Sports Radio for his weekly spot. He spoke on the Seahawks blowout win over the Rams last night. The long season continues for the Rams in their new home as they fell to 4-10. Not a great start for John Fassel.
“You’re not just the coach of that football team, you’re the coach of that football market,” said La Canfora. “You’re trying to re-cultivate that as a home team football market. The Rams game loses to other NFL games in that market. People are accustomed to watching the best game, putting their money on the best game. The idea of a home team they’re going to live and die with is not in their DNA. It’s been 25 years. You need to capture people’s imaginations out there.”
The Seahawks improved to 9-4-1 with the win as they get closer to a first-round bye.
“You got a defense with real strong personalities,” said La Canfora. “You got six or seven guys on that side of the ball who on any other team would be clear and away the guy. Sometimes it flares up and they play with a passion. Sometimes it results in overly physical play.”
La Canfora spoke on the confrontation last night between Richard Sherman and Darrell Bevell.
“This won’t be something that sets their season off course or comes back to haunt them. They live by the sword and die by the sword. They don’t go down quietly.”
La Canfora commented on “Walkie-Talkie Gate” as well.
“They’ll get fined. The headsets are more out. You got the tablets and all that stuff. Ted Wells won’t have anything to do with this. There won’t be a Congressional inquiry. I don’t think the league will have to spend millions of dollars to investigate this. In a matter of weeks, they’ll be fined. It better be the end of it.”
