6-Pack Of Picks, Week 9

Brandon Tierney is 9-2-1 over his last 12 picks in the Weekly 6-Pack of Picks and has pulled within striking distance of Tiki Barber. Tierney is 24-21-3 (53.13 percent) on the year, which is just shy of Barber’s 26-21-1 (55.21 percent).

Looking ahead to this week, Tierney likes the Jets (-7.5) against the Jags, the Bills (-3) against the Dolphins, and the Steelers (-4.5) against the Raiders. He also likes FSU (+10.5) at Clemson, the over in Arizona State/Washington State (66.5), and Marshall (+3) at Middle Tennessee State.

“If Clemson wins this game, they’re not losing the rest of the way,” Tierney said. “This is their only potential stumbling block. That’s a pretty big number, don’t you think? I think it is. Now, I like Clemson. I’ve liked them for a couple of years, but who have they really beaten? They beat Wofford, beat Appalachian State, won by 3 at Louisville, (beat) Notre Dame with a back-up quarterback (by two points). Not overly impressive. Now, they have scored 114 points combined in their last two games, they’ve been going bonkers and they got Golden fired at Miami. But you know what? I’m taking Florida State. Two-plus scores? Yeah, I’ll roll with that.”

Barber, meanwhile, likes Denver (-5) at Indianapolis, Atlanta (-7) at San Francisco, and Oakland (+4.5) at Pittsburgh. He also likes Tulsa (-16.5) against UCF, Notre Dame (-8.5) at Pitt, and is taking the over in North Texas/Louisiana Tech (62).

“(Rob) Chudzinski is not going to help the defense in this game, especially with the Denver defense playing as well as they are and Andrew Luck leading the league in interceptions,” Barber said. “You can’t compare (Luck) to one of the greats like Tom Brady. You can probably start comparing him to Eli Manning. I’m taking Denver giving up five here.”
