Tiki And Tierney Weekly Rewind 10/5-10/9

DAVE REVSINE – 10/5/15
Big Ten Network host

“For whatever reason – and look, Urban Meyer is arguably the best coach going in college football. (It’s) probably been Urban and Nick Saban. He’s going to be a Hall of Famer. He’s going to go down as one of the greatest coaches in this game. So if he feels like Cardale Jones is the best guy for his team, who are we to argue? Maybe there’s more to it. The offensive line hasn’t played well. Tom Herman, who was their offensive coordinator, is now the head coach at the University of Houston and is doing fabulously there. They’re on the verge of breaking into the Top 25. So that could be part of it. They lost a play caller. There’s a lot of different things that go into this.”

MATT FORTE – 10/6/15
Bears running back

“The media, I don’t know. I guess they start to speculate and then they report it as news and it takes off. That’s how news gets more and more views, likes and listens, I guess. So they were speculating when the draft was coming up this past offseason that I was going to be traded then and nothing happened. So I can only control how I play on the football field. I don’t really worry about it. I just think it’d be crazy to trade me anyways.”

JOHN FLAHERTY – 10/6/15
YES Network analyst

“He missed 12 days with that hamstring. His last start was not great. He gave up a home run in the first inning. I thought his stuff was short that night, and it got a little bit better as the game went on, but he’s going into this game – and if you’re a Yankee teammate – you have a lot of question marks on whether he’s going to be that No. 1-type guy, that shutdown-type guy. They paid him all the money, he has the name and this is really the reason why the Yankees brought him over from Japan – to pitch in a game like this tonight. Although he didn’t have his greatest outing last time, he came through it healthy, and the Yankees are putting all their eggs in his basket tonight that he’s got to go out there (and perform).”

BILLIE JEAN KING – 10/7/15
Tennis legend

“Too many kids worry about being famous. I wanted to be accomplished and I wanted to do something special. I wanted to do something beyond myself. It wasn’t about me. My parents were very good about the way they raised us.”

BOBBY OJEDA – 10/8/15
Former Met and current MLB analyst

“I do think there’s one Achilles’ heels for the Mets, and that is that they . . . are a little dependent on the home run. They’re going up against a ball club that does not give up home runs, that plays pretty good fundamental baseball – unless Puig gets out on a limb like he does every now and then. I think this game is going to come down to fundamentals, I think it’s going to come down to base-running, I think it’s going to come down to defense. That’s where I think I give the edge to LA, but offensively, anything can happen.”

MIKE LONDON – 10/8/15
Virginia head football coach

“When you look at last year’s team, there was an Anthony Harris and there was a Henry Coley and a Daquan Romero – there were more voices defensively. This year, it’s flipped. There’s more voices offensively. Canaan Severin, Matt Johns, T.J. Thorpe – you can just go on and on. Obviously Maurice Canady is a guy that’s one of our leaders that is always a guy that has the assignment of taking the other team’s best player. He’s a quiet guy, but he also deserves the right to speak up and be heard and to grab the attention of a lot of guys when it comes to turnovers or when it comes to a high amount of play, a high amount of energy. He’s a good player in his own right and good players, as you know, sometimes have to raise to a level that gets them out of their own comfort zone to get everybody else to rise to that level. I believe Maurice is that kind of player, and I believe he’ll deliver.”

6 PACK OF PICKS – WEEK 5 – 10/9/15

“They got to win. It’s been three straight losses. I think they destroy the Bears, 40-13 (or) 37-10. The Bears – I told you they’d beat the Raiders this week – but the Bears suck, and I think the Chiefs at least temporarily get on track and I think they destroy them.”

MICHAEL ROBINSON – 10/9/15
NFL Network analyst

“If I don’t pick Seattle to win this game, I can’t ever get on a plane and go back up to the Pacific Northwest. You know that. Buy guys, I don’t know. Cincinnati is good. It’s going to be a tough one for them. I just don’t see how they can do it. Cincinnati just has so many weapons everywhere. If you match up and you try to give help with whoever’s covering A.J. Green, I think Mohamed Sanu can be a No. 1 in this league somewhere, you know what I mean? You still have Marvin Jones. You still have Tyler Eifert. I think an interesting matchup is going to be Kam Chancellor and Tyler Eifert. When they go man, can Kam match up? And Kam usually does match up, but this guy’s a little bit quicker and he can block. This is going to be a tough matchup for Seattle.”
