Tiki Barber extended his lead over Brandon Tierney in the 6 Pack of Picks last week, going 3-3 to Tierney’s 2-3-1 to improve to 11-6-1 on the season. Tierney is two picks back at 9-8-1.
Still, there’s a long way to go. Looking ahead to Week 4, Barber likes the Redskins (+3) at home against the Eagles, the Raiders (-3) on the road against the Bears, and is taking the under in the Panthers/Bucs game (39.5).
“(Washington) is getting three points, so they think Philly is going to win this game,” Barber said. “I think not. It’s on the road. Let’s not forget it’s going to be a soggy day, and the team that runs the ball best is going to win. Washington has been doing that really well. DeMarco Murray is probably going to come back, but he doesn’t fit this offense. He’s going to force himself into the game and probably disrupt what Philly is trying to do. And let’s not forget the Washington Redskins defensively (are) No. 2 in the NFL (and) No. 3 against the run. I like Washington +3.”
Moving to college, Barber likes Memphis (-8.5) at South Florida, Michigan State (-21.5) at home against Purdue, and Louisville (+5) at NC State.
Tierney, meanwhile, likes the Texans (+6.5) on the road against the Falcons, the Bills (-5) at home against the Giants, and is taking the over in the Vikings/Broncos game (43).
“I do smell a little bit of a letdown here by the Falcons,” Tierney said. “I do think they’ll win. I do think J.J. Watt is poised to absolutely be as disruptive as he’s been all season. I like that number – almost a full touchdown. I can see the Texans maybe scoring early and keeping this one tight. Give me the Texans +6.5.”
Moving to college, Tierney likes Wyoming (+25.5) at Appalachian State, East Carolina (-5.5) at SMU, and is taking the over in the K-State/Oklahoma state game (49.5).
